Dr. Hailey is originally from Ethiopia. He grew up in Addis Abeba where he attended Saint Joseph School. Upon graduation from high school, he came to Dallas at the age of 18 in 1984 for higher education. During his sophomore year, he was involved in doing research under Prof. Vinay Kumar of Robbins Pathology which culminated in multiple publications that were instrumental in his medical school admission. Upon graduating from Medical School, had residency training in Anesthesiology and Pain Management covering the Emergency surgical cases for 24 hours every third day at Parkland Hospital in Dallas for two years before completing a Family Medicine residency program in Corpus Christi and American Board of Family Medicine Board certified in Family Medicine. He also holds a non-residency trained American Board of Physician specialties Board in Emergency Medicine. He has four children aged 18, 17 and twins at 14.
